To kick off fundraising for AMP (Attleborough Music Project), we are delighted to announce St Mary’s Hymn Marathon. We will sing and play through 847 hymn from the hymnbook Ancient & Modern: hymns and songs for refreshing worship over the course of the August Bank holiday weekend, starting at 6pm on Friday 26th August.

This extraordinary event will take place with help from special guests including David Dunnett, the organist of Norwich Cathedral, Michael Nicholas, the Cathedral Organist Emeritus, and John Keys from Nottingham, who has recorded the entire hymnbook. If you are an organist and would like to be involved, or if you or your choir would like to take part, please sign up here.

Join us as we sing and play through day and night, and journey through the church seasons. Early in the marathon we will begin in Advent and play through Christmas Carols, Lent, and Easter to Pentecost. Refreshments will be available throughout the day.

The event is being held to raise funds for the Attleborough Music Project, which aims to create a centre of excellence and bring more music to Attleborough and the wider community. The project includes the provision of a music outreach worker and essential repairs to the 100-year-old church organ, not to mention extension of St Mary’s facilities in Attleborough to create more space for community events including concerts and recitals.

Come join in and help St Mary’s Choir and the St Mary’s organists, plus our special guests, complete this marathon. Any donations would be kindly appreciated during the event or, if you would like to donate in advance, please click here.

We look forward to seeing you and joining us with this incredible event.
