My eyes have seen your salvation! This Sunday is the great feast of CANDLEMAS which wraps up the Christmas season as we celebrate Jesus being presented in the Temple where old Simeon acclaimed Him as the Light of the world.
The Parish Eucharist (10am) ends with lighted candles, and then please join us in the evening for a special Festal Evensong (6.30pm): the service begins with a candlelit Procession from the Crib and the choir will be singing lovely music by Ayleward, Stanford (Evening Canticles in B flat) and Eccard ('When to the Temple Mary went').
The picture shows Mary and the Child Jesus in the Crib at St Mary's. The Crib is on display in the church from Christmas Eve until Candlemas.
