Twinning our toilets for Harvest - October 2

We'll be celebrating Harvest Thanksgiving on Sunday 2 October this year.  Come and join us!

After the Parish Eucharist at 10am there'll be a Harvest Lunch (soup, bread, cheese and fruit) in the Church Hall: tickets cost £5 and are available until Thursday 29 September.

In the afternoon St Mary's Choir is singing a traditional Harvest Choral Evensong at All Saints' Besthorpe at 4.30pm, followed by tea.

This year we're NOT appealing for fresh produce so please don't bring it!  Instead, St Mary's Sunday Club is leading us in raising money to have the toilets in the Church Hall 'twinned' with facilities in the developing world.  Just £60 will enable us to 'twin' one of our toilets with a loo halfway around the world - giving people in some of the poorest communities on the planet a decent toilet, clean water and information they need to stay healthy and halt the spread of disease.  We've got five toilets in St Mary's Hall and it would be great if we could twin them all!

Patronal Festival

14/9/2016

We were pleased to welcome the Bishop of Norwich to our Patronal Festival on Sunday.
The Rt Revd Graham James came to help us celebrate our annual festival in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary, to whom St Mary’s Church is dedicated.
Over one hundred worshippers filled the church for the celebration Eucharist led by the Bishop. Afterwards the Bishop and Mrs James joined parishioners for a lunch party to keep the festival spirit going.
The church was decorated extensively with flowers to mark the occasion, the choir sang a range of festival music and the children of the Church took part in special activities. In his sermon the Bishop reminded worshippers that the Virgin Mary had faced difficulty and puzzlement as the mother of Jesus, but that her love and humanity brought her very close to us even today.
