The Church was packed on Sunday afternoon as the Southern Norfolk District of the Scouts came to Attleborough for their annual St George's Day parade. Around 400 young people paraded through the town to the Church where the service included "We're Going on a Dragon Hunt" and awards to some of the young people and leaders. The prayers, which had been written and were read by young people were particularly moving. Sadly the sun didn't shine but nobody got too wet!
The children of St Mary's are growing sunflowers (starting on Sunday) we would be delighted if members of the congregation could join us. We would like photographs of the progress the plants are making as well as the flowers. We would also like the flowers to be brought to church on Sunday 6th September (the day of the Patronal Festival). Potted seedlings will be available in Church or feel free to use your own seeds. If you need help to take photographs then do let us know and we will try to help. Good Luck and Happy Growing! We have another busy day on Sunday (26th April). As well as the usual Services we're hosting the St George's Day Service for the Southern Norfolk District Scouts at 3pm. It's our monthly Choral Evensong at 6.30pm - Brewer in Eb Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis, Smith Responses and a Stanford anthem, Ye Choirs of New Jerusalem.
After the Easter break Sunday Club is back this week. The fun starts at 10am. Here are all the dates till the Summer. Preparations for Easter are well underway. The church is looking beautiful. Don't miss the Easter tree decorated with beautiful eggs prepared by the congregation. Easter Day Services: 8am BCP Holy Communion; 10am Parish Eucharist; (11.30 Communion at Besthorpe); 3pm Baptism; 6.30pm Evening Prayer. Young people: your help is needed on Saturday morning at 10am to help build the Easter Garden. Everyone welcome. |
